Using Versus - Video Tutorial Series

This series of videos shows how to set up and score a regular match of Table Tennis and then looks at options for analysing the results. The same process can be applied for any (and every) game or sport that you wish to keep scores for.

Note: For a detailed look at ALL of the different settings and options available within Versus App you can go through the official tutorial here. These videos are more concerned with real-world usage of Versus App.

There are 4 parts to this video tutorial:

  1. Scoring in Versus App
  2. In-App Match Analysis
  3. Taking the Analysis Further (Excel)
  4. Taking the Analysis Even Further (Wizard for Mac)

Part 1 - Scoring in Versus App

You can follow along with this tutorial using the downloadable files underneath the videos. The raw csv files are there along with the example excel file with pivots and charts added.

Part 4a - Taking the Analysis even further

The application used in this video tutorial is Wizard for Mac. This is a great little program for quickly and easily visualising data and carrying out some fairly advanced statistical analysis. If you have a Mac then it is well worth downloading the trial version to try it out.

Other statistics / data visualisation applications could be used instead if you are more familiar with them. Even Excel has some functions for carrying out some more advanced statistical analysis than we covered in the previous video.

  • Connecting to your data
  • Pivot Tables
  • Data analysis

Part 4b - Taking the Analysis even further - Part 2 (Coming soon)

This is a short follow-up video that focusses on carrying out some analysis on the data from multiple Versus. This can be achieved either by combining the exported data (of whatever level) from any individual Versus, or by using the in-app 'Export all match data' function to export all match results from the app.

The video includes:

  • 'Stacking' Versus exports in Wizard
  • Using 'All Match Data' export
  • Analysis by Category / Game
  • Modelling and Prediction in Wizard
